Plato - The Symposium
"The ideal love may include sex but the intellectually-based friendship in it is far more important; without which, the relationship is base and carnal in a way that we shouldn’t settle for. The main problem with using ‘Platonic Love’ to mean friendship is that friendship itself is the most ambiguous kind of connection between two people in the first place."
"According to Greek Mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate beings; condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves."
"…and when one of them meets the other half, the actual half of itself, whether a lover of youth or a lover of another sort, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the others sight, as I may say, even for a moment…"
"Love is the name of our pursuit of wholeness; our desire to be complete."
"I had a soul upon my lips."
